JPG Class of 2013 High School Graduates
Brea Symone’ Johnson is the daughter of Sean Johnson and Carla Washington (Darryl) and the sister of Jasmine Atkinson. Brea is the granddaughter of Carter, and the late Ora Lee Atkinson. Brea is a graduate of Garner Magnet High School where she was an Honor Roll student and has taken several Advance Placement Classes. Brea is an upcoming freshman at North Carolina Central University where she will major in Criminal Justice and minor in English. Brea’s career aspirations are to attend Howard University’s Law School and to become a Federal Prosecutor. Her favorite quote is “Turn your wounds into wisdom”, Oprah Winfrey.
Devin Jawuan Kirby is a 2013 graduate of Clayton High School. He is the son of Claudia Clark and William H. Kirby, IV and grandson of the late Constance Evon Clark, Roderick and Sonya Lassiter, Lillie Kirby, William H. and Sharon Kirby III. After graduating from Clayton High School, Devin will be assuming his father’s pressure washing business. He also worked at Bojangles during his senior year. Devin’s favorite scripture is “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed” Psalm 20:4
R. Jackson Melton, III is the son of Alfreda S. and Robert J. Melton, Jr. and grandson of Lena M. Smith and the late George Smith, Jr. He is a 2013 graduate of Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School (SEHS). He was a member of the SEHS Bulldog football team and a member of the Sigma Beta Club. Jackson will be attending Livingstone College where he will be majoring in Sports Management. Jackson’s career goal is to own a sports franchise. Jackson is extremely active at JPG as a member of the Youth Choir, Youth Missionary and Sound Ministry. Jackson’s favorite scripture is “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
Amber Nicole Royal is the daughter of Geraldine Royal and Ronnie Royal (Rosita). Her grandparents are James & Rev. Dorothy Richardson and George Royal and the late Mary Royal. She has one sister, Rhonda Royal and one step-brother, MaQuin Nnadi. Amber sings in the youth choir, vice president of the youth missionary, and the dance ministry, she also served as an usher at an early age. Amber will be attending The Art Institute in Charlotte, NC to study Fashion Marketing and Retail. Amber’s favorite saying is “Look at God”.
Montreal D. Williams is a 2013 graduate of Cleveland High School. He is the son of Purcell Sanders and Angelia Williams, and the grandson of John and Peggy Williams. After graduation Montreal plans on attending UNC Wilmington or Barton College to study Sports Medicine, and also to pursue his love of track and field. While in high school Montreal participated in track and basketball. This year in the ECC 3A track regionals he was number 2 in the 100m. with a time of 10.6 and the 200m with a time of 21.8. Montreal’s favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13 ” I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Jasmine Monique Williams is the daughter of Regina Hollins and Johnnie Hollins and the granddaughter of Edwina Sheppard. She is a 2013 graduate of West Johnson High School and will be attending Johnston Community College upon graduating. Her favorite scripture is “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song” Psalm 28:7.

Letitia Michelle DeLaine was born on April 17, 1984 in Washington, DC. After living in Clayton for a few years, she was baptized at the age of 12 and joined Johnston Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church and the Voices of Inspiration Youth Choir. Always the scholar, she graduated from Clayton High School with high honors. While pursuing a degree at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, she began working in a pharmacy and fell in love with the profession. In May 2007, she graduated from A&T with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a minor in Romance Languages and Literatures with a concentration in Spanish. After graduation, she worked full time as a Certified Pharmacy Technician for Walgreen’s. Her hard work and diligence paid off in 2010 when she was accepted into the inaugural pharmacy class at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. On May 17, 2013 she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UMES. After graduation, she will move to San Antonio where she has accepted a position as a Post-Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Practice Resident at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Healthcare System/Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. This position will prepare her for a career as a clinical pharmacist. Letitia is the daughter of Louis and Ursula J. DeLaine and the granddaughter of Joseph and Dorothy DeLaine and the late Rev. JoeNathan and Lottie Joyner. “Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalms 30:5
Ashley Olivette King is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied Political Science and minored in Spanish. She was a dance team member and model for the African student union at UNCG throughout her three years and participated in amplifying African culture on and off campus by taking part in African week, campus dances, African cuisine caf nights, and the annual International fest. She studied abroad in Montevideo, Uruguay her junior year from February – December 2012 to broaden her cultural experience and to further her spanish language studies. Ashley plans to gain a law degree and obtain a job as a civil lawyer where she can be a voice for people whose civil rights have been violated. She also plans to obtain a translation license and work as a translator for Spanish speaking clients. Ashley is the daughter of Omotayo and Jackie King, natives of Nigeria and Sierra Leone, and sister to Claire King who also attends UNCG and, as Ashley, is also first generation American. John 15:18-2
