WHAT IS A VETERAN?

What is a veteran? a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released there from under conditions other than dishonorable.

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • We visit our local rest homes, retirement homes, and the VA hospital.
  • We assist American Legion Post 518 in placing flags on veterans graves at Johnston Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Forest Hill Cemetery.
  • We send welcome packets to troops across the globe.

PURPOSE OF VETERAN’S DAY

The purpose of Veterans Day and Memorial Day are often confused. Memorial Day is for honoring military personnel who died in service to their country. Veterans Day is for thanking ALL men and … We resolve that their sacrifices will always be remembered by a grateful Nation.
